Im grateful for the blog post. Want more.
I don't know if there is a particular crime that deserves the death penalty. Perhaps the better answer would be that only certain individuals deserve it. There are some people that are so evil and such a menace to society that this penalty is justifiable. This would be the case in serial killers and other other individuals that just cannot get their act together.
Serial killers should definitely get the death penalty. I think child molesters also deserve the death penalty.
I tend to be pretty hard core on crime.
All 1st degree murderers
anyone who uses torture
violent rape, with serious injury and any multiple rapist
child molesters
attempted murder when, had the victim died, it would have been 1st degree murder.
It should require special circumstances NOT to get the death penalty.
However there needs to be reform of the system. There should be automatic DNA testing done whenever there is DNA evidence.
There should be 1 automatic review by an unbiased panel that looks at ALL evidence including anything disallowed in the original trial.
There should be 1 automatic appeal.
The only way the sentence would be changed is if evidence shows that the person is not guilty.
The execution should take place on the 365th day after sentencing.
Execution should be by a single injection of cyanide, 600mg (a lethal does for a large man is considered to be 50mg)
Any sexual penetration to any child or murder of them should be mandatory death sentence with 100% DNA proof. Swift with 100% proof. No trial, no ifs ands or buts if guilt is there 100%. Why waste time or money and why not rid the world of these people now! Why pay for years for them to live in prison and continue search with others of their kind at our expense. This would make anyone think twice I think.
I think a life sentence in a maximum security prison is a greater punishment than a death sentence. In this way the offender has an entire life to think about his crime and the hopelessness of his remaining years. Also, I do not think I could flip the switch on anyone (despite his/her crime). Taking a life (no matter how foul) isn't something I'd want on my conscience.
No one deserves the death penalty. It shouldn't be a right for any government or man created institution to take anyones life. If someone does something we deem to be wrong an institution should work on correcting behavior, not ending the cause of it. If you personally believe a murder or child molester should face death it should be inflicted by the ones/ones family of the victim to carry it out. This belief goes back in all cultures in history, strongest in Asian communities like Japanese samurai fighting for their family's honor.
We give governments the right to run our countries, not the right to control what happens to us in life or death. What is to say once you give your government permission to kill what you determine to be "terrible" crimes that it will not expand its view of "terrible" crimes? There was once an anime and while it wasn't real it used the whole government over-control that used drones to kill citizens for simple crimes such as petty theft or jaywalking.
Well thats just my view, we aren't guaranteed to be alive tomorrow, but I sure as hell feel safer knowing the government that im a citizen of won't determine if it does or not.

I think that murder/mass murder, repeat sexual offenses, repeat intent to distribute drug offenses, repeat hostage taking, repeat stalking, and any child molestation deserve the death penalty. There are more that I'd likely agree with having the death penalty for but these are the ones that immediately spring to mind as they all either end a person's life or forever alter it. With this line of thinking, American taxpayers could save billions on housing, feeding, and otherwise taking care of criminal scum.
In India, death penalty is given as punishment for a number of crimes including Murder, Kidnapping, Terrorism, Desertion, inducement to suicide of a minor or a mentally- retarded person and also Rape in certain circumstances which has been added in 2013.

What are your views on the death penalty? While I do believe that some people should be put to death, the risk of sending an innocent person to death is too great. I think either the requirements for the death penalty should be higher or is should be banned. What do you think?

Supporters say that some crimes deserve the Death Penalty and that we are spending too much money to keep prisoners comfortable in prisons. That there are too many people that don't have cable, a home, free education and job training, free cloth, food; things that are provided to prisoners. On the...
